Our Initiatives
NHF DrugServ Mobile Pharmacies
The NHF has deployed mobile pharmacy services to five of the most affected parishes in Western Jamaica, ensuring continued access to medications despite post-hurricane challenges. Our rapid response has helped support communities across the region.
Since November 1, over 196,500 prescriptions have been filled, bringing prescription numbers on par with October levels., though some main DrugServ locations are experiencing longer wait times due to limited electricity and internet. Mobile units have reached over 60 communities, serving nearly 3,000 patients, including deliveries by bike in remote areas. Facilities with major structural damage in St. James, St. Elizabeth, Hanover, and Westmoreland continue to be supported through these mobile services.
Over 90% of the public sector facilities from which pharmacy services are provided have resumed filling prescriptions while all our main pharmacy locations are currently operational.
Warehouse Relief Activities
Our staff is actively collecting, sorting, and packing relief supplies for distribution to communities impacted by Hurricane Melissa. Operations are focused on organizing essential items to ensure efficient delivery to affected areas. The warehouse serves as the central point for coordinating logistics and supporting national relief efforts.
Collaborating for Change
In partnership with the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) and the support of international and local organizations such as Direct Relief and Dr Reddy’s Lab, the NHF has joined forces to strengthen on-the-ground relief and recovery efforts. These efforts are also further supported by the involvement of the Regional Health Authority, ensuring that critical supplies reach communities most in need.
Through our joint distribution of much- needed relief materials, we continue to uphold our shared commitment to the health and well-being of every Jamaican.
Dr. Reddy’s donates US$215,000 in drugs for hurricane recovery to be distributed by NHF
Pharmaceutical company Dr Reddy’s Laboratory has donated essential medication valued at US$215,000 to support Jamaica’s response to Hurricane Melissa. The National Health Fund (NHF) is the recipient of the donation, which was officially handed over on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the NHF Head Office in New Kingston.
