How the Early Refill Works?

Usually, you must wait a certain time before refilling your prescription. But when there’s a hurricane warning, NHF gives you a chance to refill earlier:

• ​30-day prescriptions – Refill after 15 days
• ​​60-day prescriptions – Refill after 45 days
• ​​90-day prescriptions – Refill after 75 days

Store Your Medication Safely

Once you get your medication, make sure it stays safe:

• Keep medicines in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight
• ​​Use sealed containers or bags to protect from water
• ​If you use insulin or other meds that need to stay cold, have a cooler and ice packs ready in case of a power cut

Check for Expired Medication

Storm prep is also a good time to clear out old medicine. Expired drugs may not work and could be harmful. Don’t flush them or throw them in the trash. Ask your pharmacy how to get rid of them properly.
