Addition of New Active Ingredient, Blood Glucose Monitoring System and Test Strips to NHF Drug List

Addition of New Active Ingredient, Blood Glucose Monitoring System and Test Strips to NHF Drug List

National Health Fund (NHF) members, who are enrolled for Breast Cancer, will now enjoy subsidies for Doxorubicin Injection, a new active ingredient that treats their condition.  NHF added Doxorubicin under the labels Doxorubicin -EBW and Doxorubicin -H2K, to its NHF Card Drug List and offers a subsidy of $426.40 for each 10 milligram vial and $2,132.00  for the 50 milligram vial.

In addition, Combigan Ophthalmic Solution, another label for the active ingredient Brimonidine and Timolol, which is used to treat Glaucoma, has seen a reduction in subsidy from $1,225.64 to $1,029.00. The reduction is in keeping with our policy of reducing the subsidy for a branded drug when the first generic substitute is added to the programme. Diabetics enrolled with the National Health Fund now have twelve (12) glucometers to choose from to aid them in monitoring their blood glucose levels, as Gluco Perfect Blood Glucose Monitoring System has been added to the list of glucose monitoring systems on the Diabetic Supplies Programme.

NHF will offer a subsidy of $1,693.01 for the pack of 50 Perfect 3 Blood Glucose Test Strips which are used along with the glucometer.

Gluco Perfect Glucometer is distributed by Servi-Care Limited. They are one of nine distributors that have agreed to provide glucometers free of charge to diabetic patients enrolled with NHF,
