Minister of Health Dr Fenton Ferguson on Friday, broke ground at the site at which the Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine for radiation treatment will be placed at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St James.

The hospital, will house one of the two machines in its Cancer Care Centre of Excellence which is being developed. The other machine will be housed at a similar centre to be developed at the St Joseph’s hospital in Kingston.

The machines, estimated to cost US$15 million and funded jointly through the National Health Fund, the Culture, Health, Arts, Sports and Education (CHASE) Fund and the Tourism Enhancement Fund, will provide radiation treatment for cancer and cancer related illnesses. (Read More)
