Ground was also broken for a Parent Overnight Suite and Paediatric Cardiac Ward as part of the overall development plan for the Bustamante Hospital for Children that will transform the facility and improve patient care and client satisfaction.
Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, in his keynote address said, “There is a great sense of fulfilment in announcing these redevelopment plans. Also speaking at the event, Minister Tufton explained that the 18 room Parent Overnight Suite will allow parents to stay on property comfortably while their children receive treatment. “What we are doing here today is timely because it captures a recognition of the needs in the society for our young people and the approach has to be both preventative and curative.”

The Bustamante Hospital for Children caters to patients from birth to 12 years, providing a comprehensive range of diagnostic, preventative, curative, rehabilitative and ambulatory services offered in paediatric medical and surgical specialities and sub-specialities.
The NHF is providing additional funding in the amount of $ 120 million towards the construction of the Parent Overnight Suite and Paediatric Cardiac Ward.
