NHF dedicates 100,000,000 million to Compassionate Care

Programme Launched at the Kingston Public Hospital

The Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) on Thursday, November 17, 2022, became the latest beneficiary of the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Compassionate Care Programme supported by the National Health Fund (NHF).

The Compassionate Care Programme comprises of three components: customer service training for staff, volunteerism and infrastructural enhancement, which the NHF has committed to undertaking at a cost of $100,000,000 for all eighteen projects under the programme.

The KPH Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department now has a redesigned registration area, upgraded customer service station, refurbished male and female bathrooms, among other improvements.

The Type A facility joins six other locations already completed under the Programme, namely the Port Antonio Hospital, Annotto Bay Hospital, Savanna-La-Mar Hospital, KPH Outpatient Department (South), the Port Maria Hospital, and the Stony Hill Health Centre, amounting to approximately fifty million dollars.

The programme was initiated in 2018 and will be launched at other facilities across the island, subsequently.
