THE overwhelming number of men who turned out for free prostate cancer screening at the Montego Bay Cultural Centre on Monday was an encouraging indication to Dr Tasha Cooke that the phobia associated with the rectal examination that accompanies the test is steadily disappearing. In fact, nearly 600 men were tested before a very heavy early afternoon downpour that sent the large gathering scrambling for shelter.

Since its inception in 2012, the number of men participating in the annual screening — which is the brainchild of Dr Cooke, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Montego Bay East — has been strongly increasing.

The event was sponsored by Rain Forest Seafoods, Discount Lumber & Hardware, Western Mirror, Jamaica National, National Health Fund, Cornwall Regional Hospital, Jamaica Cancer Society, Brandon Hill Guest House, Lawrence Chairs and Rentals and others. (Read More)
