NATIONAL EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTRE FOR HEALTH GETS $3MILLION FROM NHF TO PREPARE FOR THE HURRICANE SEASON

The National Health Fund (NHF) has provided a grant of $3M to the National Emergency Operations Centre for the health sector, to upgrade equipment, improve communications and the overall operations of the Centre. This emergency centre is the coordinating hub for all activities of the health sector during a hurricane or other disaster.

Dr. Marion Bullock Ducasse, Director of Disaster Management and Special Services at the Ministry of Health says, ?It is critical to have timely establishment of the Emergency Centre with appropriate equipment & supplies to maintain contact with all health facilities island-wide.? The NHF grant she notes has enhanced preparation and response, as the centre now has all the furniture and equipment necessary to support these activities.
