NHF Adds New Drug Labels For The Treatment Of Prostate And Breast Cancer

Prostate and breast cancer patients enrolled with the National Health Fund now have a new drug label to choose from for the treatment of their condition. Docetere (Docetaxel) is the new label and three strengths of this injection were added. The 20 milligram injection is available in a 0.5 millilitre vial with a NHF subsidy of $5,267.47; the 80 milligram injection is available in a 2 millilitre vial with a NHF subsidy of $21,069.89 and the 120 milligram injection in a 3 millilitre vial, which is a new strength for this drug, enjoys a NHF subsidy of $31,604.82.

Glimy (Glimepiride) a new drug label has also been added to the NHF Drug List with a subsidy of $29.31 for the 2 milligram tablet and $58.62 for the 4 milligram tablet. This drug is used for the treatment of diabetes.

Apo-Amilzide (Amiloride & Hydrochlorothiazide) is another new label added to the NHF Drug List with a subsidy of $4.59 per tablet. It is used in the treatment of Hypertension. This label is the generic alternative to the brand Moduretic, which has been discontinued by the local distributor and therefore has been removed from the NHF Drug List.

For the treatment of Asthma a new presentation in the form of oral granules of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient -Montelukast, has been added to the NHF Drug List under the Singulair brand.
