The surroundings of the Noel Holmes Hospital in Hanover, will be a safer place soon for patients and staff. This will be made possible with the provision of a grant from the National Health Fund to establish perimeter boundaries around the facility.

The Noel Holmes compound houses not only the Hospital but also the Lucea Health Centre and the Hanover Health Department. These facilities have all been experiencing problems with intruders especially at night.

It is expected that the establishing of the borders will also assist with the reduction of absconding patients and provide better safety management.

Additionally, the St Ann’s Bay Hospital will benefit from refurbishing of the Outpatient Department, the Accident and Emergency Block, the  Maternity Ward/Paediatric Ward block and the Pharmacy waiting area.  The Male Medical and the Male Surgical Wards, which have deteriorated over the years, will also be refurbished.

The St. Ann’s Bay Hospital is the only Type B Health facility in the North East Region. It provides healthcare for the over 360,000 residents across the region, also offering services to tourists from nearby hotels.
