NHF TAKES OVER MANAGEMENT OF JADEP

The National Health Fund (NHF) has taken over the administration of the Jamaica Drugs for the Elderly Programme (JADEP) effective January 2004. JADEP is a public-private sector collaborative effort, which was launched by the Ministry of Health in 1996. The Programme assist persons sixty years of age and older who are suffering with one or more of the listed eight chronic conditions to obtain specified drugs to treat their at significantly reduced cost.
The conditions covered by JADEP are:

? Hypertension

? Diabetes

? Glaucoma

? Arthritis

? Asthma

? Cardiac or heart disease

? Psychotic conditions

? Vascular conditions

The NHF is now in the process of re-enroling present members to validate their integrity and to allow for the introduction of magnetic swipe cards. Members will continue to receive their benefits during this process. Enrolment for new members is continuing.
