Minister of Health Horace Dalley on Friday officially reopened the Padmore Health Centre in rural St Andrew after it was repaired at a cost of $7 million.

The renovation project was funded by the National Health Fund (NHF) and entailed roof repairs, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and fencing.

During the ceremony, Minister Dalley urged the community to take care of the newly refurbished facility.

“It doesn’t matter how many facilities we build, if the community is not involved in the care and the protection of these facilities they will not be sustainable,” he said. “All over Jamaica the government has renovated over 300 health centres…. We do this because the first call for health care must be at the community level. I want to urge the community to utilise the Padmore Health Centre. For example, once you are pregnant you must go to the health centre. You must take care of yourselves.”

The Padmore Health Centre is a Type One facility which offers maternal and child health services. (See full article here)
