WYNLEE DISTRIBUTOR JOINS PROGRAMME TO PROVIDE GLUCOMETERS TO NHF BENEFICIARIES ENROLLED FOR DIABETES

WYNLEE DISTRIBUTOR JOINS PROGRAMME TO PROVIDE GLUCOMETERS TO NHF BENEFICIARIES ENROLLED FOR DIABETES

Wynlee Distributor has joined the NHF/Distributor Diabetic Supplies Programme and will be issuing Prodigy glucometers free of cost to NHF beneficiaries enrolled for diabetes. This arrangement becomes effective September 7, 2006.

Three Prodigy glucometers will be offered under the programme:

? the Prodigy Eject Meter

? the Prodigy Glucose Audio Meter

? the Prodigy Glucose Meter (non-Talking)

The provision of glucometers to National Health Fund beneficiaries is the result of a unique partnership between the NHF, a public sector entity, and the private sector distributors of these instruments. Glucometers are needed by diabetic patients to measure their blood glucose (sugar) levels so as to properly manage their condition.

Under the programme, the distributors have agreed to provide glucometers free of charge to diabetic patients and the NHF subsidises the test strips and other items used in the measuring process. The programme began in November 2005 with six distributors of Glucometers and insulin Penfill applicators and today along with the Prodigy glucometers the following products are available under the partnership:

? The Prestige IQ glucometer kit from Qualcare

? The Precision Xtra glucometer kit from H.D. Hopwood

? The Novopen penfill applicator from H.D. Hopwood

? The EZ Smart glucometer kit from Carimed & Qualcare

? The Accu-Chek glucometer kit from Inter- Commercial

? The Humopens penfill applicator from Medigrace

With the addition of the Prodigy line of glucometers by Wynlee Distributors, the NHF will now subsidise the lancets – used for pricking the skin to obtain the droplet of blood – and test strips – used to measure blood sugar levels ? required for the Prodigy glucometers. The Prodigy Glucose Test Strips pack of 50 will receive a NHF subsidy of $1,693.01 and the Vitalcare Safety Lancets 26g pack of 100 a $187.20 subsidy.

Thousands of persons enrolled with the NHF have obtained free glucometers and improved the management of their diabetes. The distributors reserve the right to require that persons obtaining a glucometer purchase test strips when doing so. In order to obtain a glucometer from the participating companies NHF beneficiaries enrolled for diabetes should seek advice from their medical doctor or pharmacist on the purpose and use of these devices and decide on the specific device they wish to obtain, before contacting the NHF with their request.
