We are committed to improving health across Jamaica. The NHFCard Programme supports residents of all ages by assisting with the medication cost of 28 chronic illnesses, as well as certain diagnostic tests and medical supplies.

Your NHFCard helps you to pay for a select list of prescription drugs, respiratory devices, diabetic supplies and diagnostic tests at our participating pharmacies, laboratories, or doctors’ offices. We cover a fixed amount of the total cost, and you only pay the balance.

How to Apply for Your NHFCard
You can complete the application form manually or ask your doctor to sign you up online. Both options ensure that signing up is quick, easy, and convenient.
On Your Own:

Complete the Application Form
Fill out the NHFCard application form. Make sure you provide all necessary details, including your Tax Registration Number (TRN).

Get Doctor Certification
Take the completed form to your doctor for certification, ensuring that their signature and medical registration number are included.

Pick Up Your Card
Submit the certified form to any NHFCard Centre and receive your NHFCard within 15 minutes.
With Your Doctor:

Consult with Your Doctor
Discuss applying for the NHFCard with your doctor. Ask them to help you apply by completing the online doctor registration form.

Form Completion
You must provide the doctor with your TRN Card. Your doctor will complete the application on your behalf and select the NHFCard Centre of your choice for pick up.

Pick Up Your Card
You will be contacted and advised to visit the selected NHF Card Centre and collect your NHF card within minutes.

Pay Less for Prescription Drugs
- With an NHFCard, you pay less on a selected list of prescription drugs. You may check the subsidy list to see if your prescribed medication is covered. Take full advantage of the benefits offered by your NHFCard!
- Remember to present your NHFCard with your prescription whenever you go to the NHF Participating Pharmacy.
- The NHF pays a fixed amount on each item and you pay the difference.
- If you have private insurance, enjoy the benefits of both the NHFCard along with private insurance and pay even less out of pocket

Twice the Discount for Children’s Medications
Children under the age of 19 years old benefit from twice the discount on medication and devices covered by the NHFCard programme.

Low-Costs for JADEP Patients
If you are 60 years and older, you only pay a small fee for medication on the JADEP List. Fill your prescription at a JADEP Participating Pharmacy and pay only $40 per drug item up to a maximum of $240 for six or more items dispensed from the JADEP drug list.

Access to a Free Glucometer (Blood Sugar Monitor)
If you are enrolled on the NHFCard for diabetes, you can get a glucometer every two years. You must use your NHFCard at least once for your diabetic medication.

Assistance Paying for Select Medical Devices
- Subsidies are available on selected medical devices for related conditions and diagnostic tests.
- For diabetics more benefits are available to help you manage better.
- Pay less for test strips, lancets, insulin refill pens & syringes
- Asthmatics
- Pay less for asthmatic pumps, spacers, and masks
- Pay less for asthmatic pumps, spacers, and masks

Assistance Paying for Select Diagnostic Tests
- Diabetes
- Each year, you can get up to four (4) HBA1IC tests done at selected laboratories
- Pap Smear
- A contribution of $1300 is provided for a Pap Smear once every three years for women 21 years and over.
- Mammogram
- Women 40 years and over gets $3000 towards a mammogram once per year.
- Breast Receptor Study
- A contribution of $12,500 is provided for the Breast Cancer Receptor Study test with a maximum of two tests. This is done at the University of West Indies Laboratory.
- Prostate Specific Antigen Test (PSA)
- Males enrolled for Prostate Cancer can access up to Four (4) PSA Tests per year.
- A contribution of $1,920 is provided for the PSA test to check for prostate cancer. One test is available for men 40 years and over with an NHFCard.
- ECG
- Each year you can get $1,750 for an ECG at selected diagnostic centres.
- Echocardiogram (ECHO)
- $7,500 discount per year for an Echocardiogram
