Great News! The Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test is now covered on the NHFCard Programme.
Screening for prostate cancer is important and the new benefit will provide access to diagnostic test for men.
Who Can Benefit?

Males 40 years old and over who are enrolled on the NHFCard programme can now access ONE Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) test per year.
- The subsidy for the PSA test is set at $1,600.00 (per test).

Maximum allowance is one (1) test per year.

Data on Prostate Cancer Screening in Jamaica
- Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among Jamaican Men.
- Only 28% of men over 40 years of age ever had a digital rectal examination done.
- Of the 5.1 % of men 40 years and older who were sent by healthcare professional for a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening test, only 1.9% of men in this age group report having done a PSA test.
